Challah Foundation
Our Mission
The goal of the Challah Foundation is to create a sense of spirit, human compassion, resilience, and motivation. Through the anonymous gift of Challah – a symbol of life – given by volunteers to patients with cancer, we wish to acknowledge the preciousness of life.
Our Hope
The Fund is dedicated to maintain the integrity of relationships between people of all faiths, acknowledging a common central bond so that cancer – a disease which often divides people and families – will instead become a fulcrum for healing.
The most powerful medicine is the power of the mind.
Michael J. Nissenblatt, Founder of the Challah Foundation
Food For the Soul
Each year, for the past dozen years, the Challah Foundation has distributed over 7500 challahs to cancer survivors. We have distributed more than 70,000 altogether to patients with cancer and who are hospitalized as they seek to endure treatments and overcome illness. This is an ecumenical and non-sectarian effort. Of our present volunteers there are 5 Christians, 3 Jewish and one of the Muslim faith. We need people to assist us. We need folks to spend an hour or so of their time delivering this gift of hope. Send us an email, and join the ranks of those good people who reach out to their fellow man or woman.
